GAMBAT

A good development for the patients who travel hundreds of kilometers from the rural areas of Sindh to HWSK Hemophilia Treatment Center (HTC) based in Karachi for treatment. This journey is arduous and painful. To facilitate in ameliorating the pain and suffering of the fellow patients we embarked on a plan to visit Gambat Institute of Medical Sciences (GIMS), where Dr. M. Shehzad has been very active and is desirous of opening an HTC over there so that the hemophiliacs of the adjoining areas could come there for treatment. Instead of they coming all the way to Karachi we wanted to take the treatment to them. We are planning to have more such HTCs in other areas of the province of Sindh. Mirpurkhas can be a case in point. We have registration with us of about 100 patients who come from Gambat and surrounding areas. These 100 patients could be treated at GIMS. We are making arrangements to supply the cryos from Regional Blood Center (RBC) and coagulation factor concentrates (CFCs) could be supplied by us which we get from World Federation of Hemophilia Humanitarian Aid (WFH) through the aegis of Hemophilia Foundation - Pakistan (HFP) as per their protocol and criteria. Our strategic plan is to have a private pubic nexus in providing such state-of-the-art treatment. We received a request from Dr. Shehzad hematologist of Center of Haematology & Bone Marrow Transplant GIMS, He asking us to visit GIMS in the wake of our visit to Mirpurkhas. We at once set out for the visit to GIMS as part of our outreach plan. There we identified 72 more patients. GIMS, is the one of a kind tertiary care hospital established in the city of Gambat. There is no other hospital in Pakistan in the rural areas with such vast treatment facilities available for the general patients and now hemophiliacs would be another feather in their cap. This institute is well established in the field of hematology, Bone Marrow Transplant, Liver Transplant, Kidney Transplant, Stem Cell Therapy and a Rapid Response Center (ER) and this treatment is given free of cost. We are committed to providing treatment provided to the patients of the Khair Pur division including Gambat and its surrounding areas at the start of the new year 2022 in collaboration with GIMS .
